Movie Review

Samara

It SUCKS dog’s bollocks.

There.

I’m done with my review of Samara...now let’s move on to the next movie.

;-p

Seriously though.....you people should STOP going to this kinda STUPID shows! Hollywood execs make their decision to greenlight a movie based on weekly box office takings. So as long as you morons out there continue to go to these kinda crap and let it finish with huge box office returns, then Hollywood will CONTINUE greenlighting these lame horror movies.

WTF ever happened to those old horror movies of the 80s that really sent chills up your spine and was chockful of gore that u felt like vomitting in the cinema ??

Jason, Freddy Krueger, Chucky, *sigh* even Smiley Face from the Scream series!

Where in the world are this great American horror legends ??!

Look...I know Americans are dumb and averse to going to a cinema and reading subtitles while the Japanese/Korean/Thailand/Asian actors talk...but NO ONE does suspenseful horror cinema as good as us Asians ‘k.

The only Westerners I’ve seen that can pull off suspenseful horror would be M. Night Shyamalan and the late, great, Alfred Hitchcock.

So Hollywood...please STOP translating these great Asian horror series (The Ring, Dark Water, The Eye, Ju-On)...... you morons build your horror movies differently!

In American horror stories...there’s always a chase...a fight b/w good and evil...a sequence where your pulse pounds rapidly as the big bad monster goes after the hero/heroine without anything being able to stop it UNTIL the hero/heroine suddenly figures out a way to stop it.

You see, American horror series are built like a roller-coaster....with thrills, spills and turns before u finally stop to catch your breath.

Asian horror however are more SUBTLE.

You see a glimpse of the ghost as it glides behind the hero/heroine/victim.

Snatches of an eye with long overflowing hair...shadows along a corridor...flutters of white cloth...

THAT’S how Asians make horror movies....it tenses up the audience and drive them crazy with anticipation...until that final moment when the monster comes out and tries to kill the hero/heroine before of course being outwitted.

So when u take a GREAT Asian horror movie that is SUBTLE yet spine-chilling and suspenseful to Hollywood...ur are as good as butchering the movie .

Americans are dense...they DON’T understand SUBTLETY...they don’t get turned on by the slow unraveling of the monster...the deliberate pacing that creates suspense and anticipation.

They want to see the monster there and then, right in front of them, running....chasing....the victim until he/she accidentally fall and gets killed in a most gore and horrific way.

So in summary Samara sucked ‘cos they tried to bring a great Japanese Trilogy to American soil...land of the dense and unimaginative!

If you want to really be scared out of your wits, I recommend you go find the original Japanese Ring (Ringu) trilogy from your nearest friendly neighbourhood DVD pirate.
